BACE / Outdoor Channel Add Charlotte To 2004 Schedule
BACE Continues Sponsorship Search for Remaining Unbranded Races
MOORESVILLE, NC (May 25, 2004) –NASCAR Busch Series driver Tony Raines
the #74 BACE Motorsports Team will compete in the CARQUEST Auto Parts 300
this weekend at Lowe’s Motor Speedway after The Outdoor Channel exercised
their option to add their sponsorship to an unbranded event.
“As the hometown track for many of the NASCAR teams, Charlotte obviously
is an important race on our schedule,”said Raines. “Originally
we did not have a primary sponsor for this race, but as a team we believe
this event is one you have to go to. We called The Outdoor Channel early this
week and asked if they would like to add this race to their program and they
agreed to do it.”
“We’re fortunate at BACE to have a sponsor who not only understands
the benefits of being involved in our sport but really enjoys the sport as
well,”Raines continued. “They wanted to be visible at one of the
most prestigious events on our schedule just as much as we wanted to compete
in it. Hopefully we can repeat the success we had here in qualifying last
year and bring home our first top-five of this season.”
In 2003, Raines scored the outside pole in The Outdoor Channel Chevrolet
for the Busch Series event at Charlotte, running in the top-five for the first
125 laps before an engine failure ended his day. To help repeat the team’s
prior success, Raines will climb behind the wheel of a brand new car this
weekend, one that was built entirely in-house at BACE with the Charlotte event
in mind.
“One of my favorite cars was the first car we ever built in-house at
BACE but we lost that car in the wreck at Texas,”Raines said. “The
guys in the shop have worked extra hard to get this car ready to race at Charlotte.
(Crew Chief) Mark (Tutor) believes that this will be one of the best cars
in our shop so I’m looking forward to breaking it in this weekend.”
Additionally, BACE Motorsports continues its search for primary sponsorship
to finish out open dates on the 2004 Busch Series schedule. The races scheduled
at The Milwaukee Mile (6/27) and at Daytona International Speedway (7/2) are
the next events on the NASCAR Busch Series list that BACE will need to acquire
sponsorship in order to attend. Raines has a top-five and a top-10 finish
to his credit in his last two trips to the Milwaukee Mile, with a top-15 finish
in his last Busch Series start at Daytona.
“Milwaukee is one of my favorite stops on the schedule,”said
Raines. “I lived in Milwaukee for two years while I was racing in the
ASA Series (Raines was the 1996 ASA Champion) and I have a lot of track time
there. Add to the equation, that they will be racing under the lights and
it will be even more exciting. It’s a race I definitely do not want
to miss out on.”
Events also available to a sponsor interested in partnering with the three-time
Busch Series champions are Indianapolis, New Hampshire, the Richmond return,
Kansas, Memphis, Atlanta and Phoenix.
